Galway Film Fleadh – European Premiere Thursday July 9th

Sideline Productions is honoured that the 38th Galway Film Fleadh has selected BALLROOM BOOM (hosted by U2’s Adam Clayton) for its European premiere. Booking link below.
Ballroom Blitz (2 hours of TV) was originally commissioned by RTÉ’s Head of Factual Colm O’Callaghan but was geo-blocked on the RTÉ Player due to the amount of ‘commercial’ music. After receiving queries from all over the world, Sideline Productions invested in a major re-edit, commissioned original music and produced a new feature-length version, ‘BALLROOM BOOM’, for the international festival and broadcast market. It has been a brilliant journey so far.
BALLROOM BOOM does not just feature the rise and fall of Irish showbands but instead, after a major re-edit and extra filming with Adam, refocusses the narrative to explore what the Irish music scene was like before U2 started.
Special thanks to all the artists, managers and varied stakeholders for their support and generosity to ensure that BALLROOM BOOM – and its unique musical history – wins the global audience it deserves. The feature-length film has already won awards across the globe and sold out screenings in New York, Chicago, Austin, Toronto, Singapore and London. Now it’s Galway’s turn.
Screening in PALAS 1 (Merchants Quay Galway) on Thursday, July 9th, at 1.15 pm. Q&A after.
